European Union Publishes New Tax Trends Report

The European Commission has released a new version of its Taxation Trends in the European Union report, which provides a detailed statistical and economic analysis of the tax systems of the EU member states and Iceland and Norway, which are members of the European Economic Area.

The report contains country chapters, which give an overview of the main trends in taxation for each of the 30 countries covered by the report. These country chapters begin with a table and graph showing trends in the country's tax revenues under the main tax headings for the period 2004 to 2013. Thereafter, they contain a table of the main tax reforms that the country has undertaken, categorized by the type of measure. Finally, they include a snapshot of the main features of the national tax systems.

The report concludes with reference tables containing information on statutory tax rates – covering on corporate income tax, personal income tax, and value-added tax – and tables including information on effective tax rates and tax wedges.
